PLS READ STAR TREK COMICS

The Star Trek Comics Are Good And You Should Read Them

Star Trek (2011-2016) and Star Trek Boldly Go (2016-2018), as well as some other tie-ins such as the Countdown and Academy specials, are in the same canon as the reboot films, sometimes being referenced in them and often filling in a bunch of gaps. You can get them illegally online or by paying Earth dollars; I think you can read most of them for free if you do the Comixology Unlimited free trial, actually, though their roster changes every so often. It's a monthly release that's sometimes staggered to be far apart (unlike some superhero titles which do 2 a month, or 2 plus the tie-ins to other titles etc), so it's less of a financial investment if you want to actually buy it and keep up. Also the art tends to be pretty good, with only a few outlier issues of weirdness. Currently the AOS/Kelvin timeline comics are on indefinite hiatus, because 1) the team moved over to the Star Trek Discovery comics and 2) the next AOS film is in pre-production; most of them end up with comic book tie-ins so there's probably a studio-mandated hold while they sort the script out. But that means there's plenty of time to read them all...r ...ight.....!!

ANYWAY YOU SHOULD READ THEM AND HERE'S WHY:

MORE SPOCK PRIME

TRIBBLES.

hey isn't it weird that the Romulan Empire never had a reaction to renegade Romulans blowing up the home planet of their sworn enemies

isn't it REALLY WEIRD that the Klingon Empire never had a reaction to humans trespassing on their home planet and committing acts of violence

Plus a lot more. Some of the issues re-hash some TOS episodes, the first couple of issues are kind of weak before they get the hang of it (and remember to put actual depth into things and like, remember whose hair/eye colors are whose, lol), there are crossovers with other Star Trek series, there's time travel, there's crazy AUs, there's science, morality, disasters of the week, etc etc. There's even pon farr. Put it in your eyeballs!!
